Frequently asked questions
Straight answers about the 10-minute inbox, privacy, and what this service is for.
Is 10minemail free?
Yes. The inbox is free. Optional PayPal donations help pay for the server and domains. Ads may appear on information pages.
What is a 10 minute email?
A 10 minute email is a short-lived inbox that receives real mail, then deletes itself when the timer ends. 10minemail issues professional-looking @profemail.co.uk addresses with no account required.
How long does an address last?
Ten minutes. +10 min adds another ten. When time runs out, the address and its messages are deleted.
Why do addresses look like real names?
Random digit addresses are often blocked by signup forms. We build first.last style names so the address looks ordinary, then we still throw it away.
Is temporary email safe?
For one-off signups and verification codes, yes — if you treat the inbox as public while it exists. It is not safe for banks, recovery emails, or secrets. Read our guide on whether temp mail is safe.
Can someone else read my mail?
The live view is tied to a random token in your browser, not your IP, so café Wi-Fi does not mix inboxes. Anyone who knows the exact address could still request it through the same mail pipeline, so do not use it for secrets.
Where is the verification code window?
When a new message arrives, we beep and open a popup with only the code (when we can find one) and a copy button.
What happens when the timer hits zero?
The address and every message in it are removed from our server. There is no recovery. That is intentional — an expired box cannot leak in a future breach.
Can I use 10minemail for free trials?
Often yes for streaming or software trials where you only need the confirmation link once. Do not use it if you might need password resets or billing notices later.
Is 10minemail the same as a fake email?
People search for both terms. A fake email usually means an address that is not your real inbox. 10minemail gives you a real, working mailbox that still disappears on a timer.
Can websites detect disposable email?
Some can. Many sites maintain blocklists of disposable domains or use validation APIs. We use professional-looking names to pass ordinary forms, but no service can guarantee every site will accept it.
What does the unique visitors number mean?
It counts browsers that have visited at least once, using a random cookie. Clearing cookies or using another device counts as another visitor.
Do you sell my data?
No accounts are created and we do not sell personal information. See the Privacy Policy for logs, the visitor cookie, and cookies that advertising partners may set if ads are shown.
Is it legal to use a temporary email?
Using a short-lived address to protect a personal inbox from spam is generally lawful. Using it to commit fraud, impersonate someone, attack systems, or break another site's rules is not allowed here and may be illegal.
Why might a website reject the address?
Some services block known disposable-mail domains. We use professional-looking names to pass ordinary forms, but we cannot force another company to accept the address.
